MLS: D.C. UNITED, ROONEY LOSE AGAIN

United have been one of the worst teams in the MLS (Major League Soccer) this season. This was further highlighted with their 1-0 defeat at the hands of hosts New England Revolution this weekend. New England Revolution and D. C. United met in a league game and it was manager Wayne Rooney and his players who ended the game on the losing end. Wayne Rooney has his work cut out in his quest to turn the fortunes of D. C. United around in the MLS this season.

Wayne Rooney is new to the MLS terrain as a manager following his appointment some weeks ago. Also, he had to wait for a work permit to perform his duties on the sidelines in the MLS. Rooney had to watch some games from the stands due to his work permit issues. His first game on the sidelines turned out to be a big boost for D. C. United after they came from behind to beat Orlando City at home during the MLS encounter played on Sunday, July 31. Continue reading “MLS: D.C. UNITED, ROONEY LOSE AGAIN”

WAYNE ROONEY’S STANCE ON DERBY COUNTY FUTURE EMERGES

Wayne Rooney has no plans to walk away from Derby County despite the ongoing off-field issues at the East Midlands club, according to journalist Alan Nixon. We are less than two months away from the start of the League One season and just weeks away from when pre-season is scheduled to begin but with Chris Kirchner’s takeover bid having seemingly broken down, the Rams’ preparations for 2022/23 have been halted by ongoing delays in the search for new owners.

The EFL announced yesterday that they are set to step in and play a more active role in helping Quantuma bring the club out of administration but even so, the saga does not yet look to be nearing its end.

BARDSLEY: ROONEY EYEING UNITED REUNION

Derby County manager Wayne Rooney is eyeing a Manchester United reunion at the club following his interest in Burnley right-back Phil Bardsley. Wayne Rooney is said to be keen on the free transfer signing of the experienced Bardsleyas stated by the report from Derbyshire Live.

36-year-old Bardsley and Rooney were teammates at Manchester United for several years before the former left the club. Bardsley has a few weeks left on his contract at Burnley and he’s set to depart the club as a free agent thus making him available for interested clubs such as Derby County. He can join the Rams as a free transfer when his Burnley contract runs out at the end of next month. Bardsley was part of the Burnley team that suffered heartbreak on the final day of the Premier League season. The Clarets needed to match the result of Leeds United on the final day of the season to avoid the drop to the English Championship, but they were unable to do so after losing 2-1 at home to Newcastle United, while Leeds United won by the same 2-1 scoreline over nine-man Brentford who had SergiCanos sent off in the second half for two yellow cards and KristofferAjer had to go off due to injury with three substitutions made. ROONEY: NORMAL FOR UNITED TO ALWAYS BE IN THE NEWS

English Premier League giants Manchester United are a club that somehow manage to make news headlines all the time, for several reasons either about transfers, or even when things are not going quite well with them. According to their former player and captain Wayne Rooney, everyone should get used to always seeing the club in the news as it is normal. Rooney believes that the reason why the Red Devils are always making news headlines is because of the fact that they are the biggest club in the world. A lot of fans would agree with Rooney’s opinions it has become so rampant, especially in the past few weeks which have seen United making the rounds in the media.

Since the turn of the new year, United appear to be the club that have been mentioned the most in several news media outlets. In January, while the winter transfer window was open, there was not a single day that passed where there wouldn’t be a player linked with a move to Old Trafford. Genuinely, United did not show any concrete interest in any player but that did not stop the media from fabricating stories about proposed player interests and contract talks.

Mengi was a regular in the Rams squad under the guidance of Wayne Rooney before injury forced him to return to Old Trafford earlier than expected. The young centre back missed the dramatic end to the English Championship last season as Derby County preserved their status in the division courtesy the thrilling 3-3 draw at home to fellow relegation candidates Sheffield Wednesday. ROONEY DROPS MAJOR STRIKER HINT

Derby County manager Wayne Rooney has hailed the impact of striker Lee Gregory who is currently on loan at the club from Stoke City. The striker has been at Derby since January last year after sealing a loan switch from his parent club, and he has proven to be an excellent signing for Rooney’s side.

Gregory decided to part ways with Stoke on a temporary basis (at least) so he could get the opportunity of getting more football minutes on the pitch as it was looking highly unlikely he would be getting that at Stoke. He could also be available for a permanent switch when the summer transfer window opens for business in a few months and Rooney is remaining coy on the player’s chances of continuing his career at the club.
